Apostle Islands Regional Sea Kayak Clinic; Team River Runner – Green Bay
Important Clinic Information:
This is a semi-wilderness trip in a spectacular venue, designed to present new experiences and opportunities. This is not a beginner’s trip. Participants must have prior experience paddling a sea kayak longer distances on open waters. Everyone is responsible for arranging to have a sea kayak, camping equipment, food and transportation to and from Bayfield, WI. Carpooling is encouraged.
Maximum group size is 21. Priority will be given to veterans. Civilian volunteers with sea kayaking experience are also welcome to apply. Participants from outside the TRR North Central Region are also welcome to apply.
We will gather Saturday Aug. 15, paddle approximately 8.5 miles to Oak Island on Aug. 16 (conditions permitting), and paddle back Aug. 20 (again, conditions permitting). Keep in mind Lake Superior waters may be cold (although some years the water has been warm enough to swim and practice rolls and rescues).
A wetsuit or drysuit should be part of your kit. Sea kayaks only. No recreational kayaks, sit-on-top kayaks, canoes or SUPs. A recommended packing list will be provided to all participants. All your gear and food must fit inside your kayak.
